The Lionesses were below their usual standards against the tournament newcomers in Brisbane but claimed all three points thanks to Georgia Stanway’s first half penalty.
England were heavy favourites ahead of the clash but the City defender, who played the full 90 minutes for Sarina Wiegman’s side, insists there’s no cause for concern.
Indeed, she pointed out that the Lionesses began last year’s historic European Championships with a similarly slender scoreline, and slightly off-colour display, against Austria.
“I think it’s important that you don’t get carried away with the first game,” she reflected on England’s Lionesses Down Under daily show.
“If you look back at the Euros, we won that game [against Austria] 1-0 and it probably wasn’t our best performance of the tournament.
“I think in the first game, the most important thing is to get the win.
“We were creating chances, we want to stop them from having chances but it’s part of tournament football, you have to adapt to the teams you play against.”
The defender also paid tribute to England’s opponents on Saturday.
Haiti became only the second Caribbean nation to qualify for the tournament this summer, but offered a stern test of the European champions’ credentials.
They could even have grabbed a famous point but for a fine reaction save late on from England stopper Mary Earps.
Based off what she’s seen of them so far, Greenwood thinks they could cause problems for other teams at the tournament this summer.
She said: “I don’t think their ranking does them justice. They’re going to be a threat to teams at this tournament.
“Fair play to them, they’ve got some really good individuals, powerful and strong players.
“People didn’t know a lot about them, we didn’t either to be honest and we don’t play against those teams often. It was great preparation for us and a good challenge.”
