Since joining the Club in September 2020, the 29-year-old has added to her impressive trophy cabinet with the 2021 FA Cup and the 2022 Continental Cup.
And her performances for Gareth Taylor‘s side last term saw her included in England’s triumphant Women’s EURO 2022 squad.
In total, she’s made 80 appearances for the Club and scored five goals since her move from Olympique Lyonnais.
Now, she’s penned a new deal with City, keeping her in Manchester until 2026.
And her stats this season have shown why she’s a valuable member of City’s squad.
Pass master
When examining the entire City squad, Greenwood’s pass accuracy makes her one of the most efficient players when maintaining possession.
Of her 660 attempted passes in the league this term, a staggering 88.94 percent of those have found a player in sky blue.
This places her with the third highest number in our ranks, while leaving her 11th out of the entire WSL roster.
Not only is accuracy with the ball in play crucial to City’s style, she also excels from dead-ball scenarios, too.
An example of this was when she delivered an inviting corner into the box for Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw to head home our opener in City’s 3-0 away win over Spurs this season.
Dictating the tempo
Building from the back is something City fans have become accustomed to from the men’s, women’s and academy teams since Pep Guardiola arrived at the Club in 2016.
And not only does her passing statistics make her a perfect asset when doing this, but her willingness to constantly receive the ball and provide an option to her teammates allows us to maintain the ball in tight spaces.
Her 751 WSL touches at present sees her top of the City chart in this regard and second across her league peers among defenders and all outfield players.
Defensively assured
Due to Greenwood’s immense contribution when going forward, perhaps her equally as strong defensive work goes relatively unnoticed.
Unsurprisingly, her tally of six blocks ranks her first among her teammates at the Etihad Stadium – while she’s among the top 14 in this category across the WSL.

The 29-year-old is also efficient in one-v-one duels.
So far in the 2022/23 league campaign, she has registered seven tackles in total – putting her in the top 50 WSL defenders in this regard.
But with City often boasting most possession in matches, the need and chance to tackle is arguably minimised.
Starting the attack
So far this season, Taylor’s side have scored 38 goals in 12 games in all competitions, averaging just over three goals a game.
And a part of City’s strong form in front of goal is our ability to drive at the defence, before making accurate decisions - another aspect of the game Greenwood flourishes in.
Her statistic of 133 WSL carries ranks her second in our squad, and fifth across the division.
By having the ability to drive the ball forward in transitions, it allows City to mix up our play and also have confidence in our counter-attacks.
Box-to-box
‘Box-to-box’ is a term not normally associated with a defender, but when examining Greenwood’s chance creating statistics this term, it’s perhaps fitting.
With 11 chances created, including her assist at Spurs, the 29-year-old ranks fourth across City’s entire squad when providing opportunities for our attackers.
This once again highlights her importance at both ends of the pitch as she can quickly switch from a defensive saviour to a creative spark.
