Fowler made her long-awaited return from an April anterior cruciate ligament rupture as a late substitute in City’s 5-1 win over Chelsea, with Fujino also back in action after limping off in our final home match of 2025.
But the duo were both left out of the squad for our 1-0 defeat to Arsenal last weekend, which saw our 13-match winning run in the WSL come to an end.
CITY v LEICESTER: EXCITING EVENTS ON OFFER!
Jeglertz confirmed that Fowler’s omission was due to a knock in training last week, while Fujino’s was down to a concussion she sustained against Chelsea.
However, he’s confident both will be back in action at the Joie Stadium in Friday’s 19:00 (UK) kick-off, though.
He said: “I expect both of them will be available on Friday.
“Mary got a knock in training last week but is back again this week and available for Friday.
“We had a full squad in training today except for those with long term injuries.”
Sam Coffey’s introduction at half-time helped City recover from a tough opening 45 minutes against Arsenal, and Jeglertz has been impressed by what he’s seen so far from our January recruit.
The US international has come on as a substitute in each of our last three matches after joining from Portland Thorns, with Jeglertz calling for patience as she finds her feet at City.
And while our Head Coach didn’t confirm if the US international would make her first start against Leicester, he insisted she’s ready if called upon.
Speaking about Coffey, he said: “She has brought a lot of things. We are a group with a lot of good football players and we added another one with Sam’s quality.
“She is a bit different from the other ones. She is more physical player than the other ones in that position and is more of a leader also, speaking a little bit more, taking more leadership in that on the field.
“So she’s a little different to others and that helps the dynamic of the team even better.
“You will see on Friday if she’s starting or not but she’s definitely ready to play.”
