Andrée Jeglertz preview 

Andrée Jeglertz confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Aoba Fujino will miss City’s Barclays Women’s Super League trip to Arsenal due to a concussion.

“[The squad] looks good,” he explained.

“I think we have been training well this week, Aoba [Fujino] got a concussion in the last game and isn’t able to play this weekend.

“But otherwise everyone is as it was last weekend.”

Opposing manager: Renee Slegers

After failing to recover from a serious knee injury, Slegers retired from playing at 29-years-old.

She was then appointed as head coach of Swedish side IF Limhamn Bunkeflo before being named as head coach of Sweden’s U23 side.

Making the move to FC Rosengard in 2021, Slegers succeeded Jonas Eidevall as head coach after managing their B side.

In 2023, she joined Arsenal as Eidevall’s assistant after winning back-to-back league titles with Rosengard.

Following the resignation of the 43-year-old Swede, she was put in temporary charge as interim head coach.

An unbeaten spell saw the Gunners reach 10 wins in 11 matches across the WSL and Champions League before she was appointed as permanent head coach until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

In May 2025, she successfully guided Arsenal to a second Champions League title and first in 18 years after earning a victory over holders Barcelona in Lisbon.

Previous meeting

We last played the Gunners in October as we played out a hard fought 3-2 victory at the Joie Stadium.

Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw broke the deadlock in the first half before Mariona Caldentey quickly found an equaliser shortly after.

Following half-time, Kerstin Casparij restored our lead, but Chloe Kelly’s long range strike saw the visitors draw level again.

It looked as if we we’d have to settle for a point until Iman Beney fired home her first goal for the club on the cusp of stoppage time.

Last time out

City stormed past Chelsea in a 5-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium to move 11 points clear at the Barclays Women’s Super League summit.

A hat-trick from Kerolin as well as goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Vivianne Miedema were the difference on a very clinical afternoon for Andrée Jeglertz’s side.

Alyssa Thompson had pulled one back for the visitors, but it could only act as a consolation goal for the current WSL title holders.
