Bunny Shaw says she and her City team-mates can’t wait to be back at the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester United.

Gareth Taylor’s side take on our cross-city rivals on Saturday 23 March, with kick-off set for 12:30 (UK).

Only goal difference separates City from the Barclays Women’s Super League summit, while United will be hoping to give their European prospects a boost in the final derby of the season.

It all points to a thrilling contest, and Shaw feels that, if City focus on our own performance, we have what it takes to come out on top against our rivals for the third time this season.

“We’re very excited. That game, the magnitude of it, hopefully a lot of people can come and support us,” the Jamaican said.

“It’s a big game, and who doesn’t love a derby? We just have to focus on ourselves, we’re in a good moment and very confident.

“We’ll take it a game at a time of course, but we’re looking forward to that game.”

Shaw got herself on the scoresheet in the first Manchester derby of the season, as City ran out 3-1 winners at Old Trafford in November 2023.

The Jamaican rounded off the scoring in fortuitous circumstances when she blocked a Mary Earps clearance, with the ricochet falling into the hosts’ net to complete a deserved comeback win.

It was United’s first competitive defeat at Old Trafford, and a moment which Shaw remembers fondly.

Speaking about her goal, she added: “Shaun [Goater] and Gaz [Gareth Taylor] have been on me about my pressing. When we’re on the front foot I can feel the energy from the girls behind pushing me.

“I got a knock and came off, and then when I came on, I remember saying to myself that I’m just going to press the ball, I don’t care where it goes.

“Sometimes you find yourself in certain situations like that where I’m literally just trying to block the ball from going long and it ends up in the goal.

“I think we’ve worked a lot on our pressing so to see it pay off especially in that game helped my confidence as well.”

Tickets are still available to purchase ahead of the latest showdown between City and United, with adults priced from £10 and Under-18s from just £5.
