Jamaica's World Cup adventure is over.

The Reggae Girlz’s brave run to the Round of 16 - further than they have ever been in the World Cup - was ended by Colombia who now face England in the quarter-finals.

The only goal of the game came after 51 minutes when Colombia’s Catalina Usme collected a cross in the box before firing past goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer.

It was the first goal Jamaica had conceded in the tournament, with all four of their games only yielding two goals in total.

For City striker Bunny Shaw, it means there was no World Cup goal to add to the 55 she has so far scored for her country.

In many ways it has been a frustrating tournament for Shaw who was often isolated in attack, with Jamaica’s game plan largely set around a disciplined rearguard action.

Chances were few and far between in a tough, physical battle between two committed sides, with Tottenham’s Drew Spence having Jamaica’s best chance to level, but her downward header bounced inches past the post on 82 minutes.

The Reggae Girlz threw everything at the Colombians - ranked 18 places higher than Jamaica - in the time that remained, but never really troubled keeper Perez.

Shaw will no doubt be rooting for her England City team-mates as the Lionesses await Colombia in Saturday’s quarter-final.
