Caroline Weir says she is excited to see Hayley Raso show what she is capable of when the Australian international returns from injury.

Raso – one of six new faces to join the Club over the summer – impressed at the start of the season with her pace and trickery on the right-wing causing havoc for opposition defences.

The 27-year-old made three appearances, crafting an assist on her league debut for the Club in our 4-0 triumph at Everton, before suffering a shoulder injury which has sadly sidelined her since.

Scotland’s Player of the Year Weir says she has been encouraged by what she has seen so far from Raso – and the rest of the new recruits – and is eager to link up with her fellow attacking midfielder again soon.

“I’ve been really impressed by Hayley Raso,” Weir hailed. “She came in and she’s done such a good job.

“There can be a lot to take in at a new Club but she’s done really well.

“She joined in August so she didn’t have much time before that Real Madrid game in the Champions League.

“She was thrown in having not trained much but she impacted the game really positively and did so again against Everton.

“All of the new signings have been great. They’ve really added a lot to the team both on and off the pitch.

“On the pitch, we’ve seen their qualities and off it, their personalities have been great for the squad.

“They’ve settled in really quickly, as we’ve got to know each other really well.

“They’ve all played now and they’ve been really good. Hopefully, that continues.”

With City having suffered an injury crisis during the opening months of the 2021/22 campaign, Weir herself missed the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and September’s international fixtures with a knee problem.

However, the Scot, who is back on national team duty with Scotland, has bounced back in recent weeks, claiming two goals and an assist, opening the scoring as we returned to winning ways with a 5-1 Continental Cup triumph over Everton last time out.

The 26-year-old asserts she is now back to full fitness and hoping to rekindle the form which earned a spot in Team GB’s Olympic squad over the summer.

“I’m all good,” she confirmed. “Post-Olympics, it took a little bit to get going again.

“It was such a high load we had over the summer, it was expected that we’d pick up a few things. I did but it was nothing serious.

“It does take a couple of weeks of proper training and gametime to get back up to the level.

“I’ve felt good physically over the last couple of games.

“Now, it’s about finding consistency again over the next few weeks and hopefully, impacting the team as well as I can.”
