The midfielder found the net from the penalty spot in our convincing 5-0 second leg victory over Fiorentina in the last 16, which secured an emphatic 8-0 aggregate triumph and a place in the quarter-finals.
The draw for the next round and the semi-finals will both take place on Friday morning, with Gareth Taylor’s side in the hat alongside some of Europe’s heavyweights, including fellow Women’s Super League title hopefuls Chelsea.
And while Weir is under no illusions that any potential opponent will offer a stern test, she believes City can come out on top regardless of who they are pitted against.
“In the quarter final there is no easy game. There are some top teams in this draw,” the Scottish international pointed out.
“(But) it is where we want to be, it’s what we focus on, these are the games, the rounds and the competitions we want to be in.
“I’m desperate to go far in this competition, we’ve got the squad to go and do it. It’s not going to be easy but it’s where we want to be.
“It’s good for us and we are looking forward to seeing who we get.”
After frustrating exits in successive seasons to Atletico Madrid, City have progressed beyond the Champions League last 16 for the first time since 2018, when we were knocked out by eventual champions Lyon.
Nonetheless, while Weir is delighted with our progress so far, she believes that competing in the latter stages of European competition is more of a requirement than an achievement for Gareth Taylor’s side.
“It is where we want to be, it’s what we focus on, these are the games, the rounds and the competitions we want to be in,” she reflected.
“Playing at a top club like City, you are expected to go far in these competitions.
“As a player you want to go as far as possible in these competitions and I’ve not done that the last two seasons.”

“It definitely fills me with confidence that we can go and compete in these competitions.”
