The winger is one of six City players selected as part of England’s squad for this summer’s tournament, hosted in Australia and New Zealand.
Sarina Wiegman’s side are reigning European champions heading into the World Cup, with their opening fixture seeing them face tournament newcomers Haiti on Saturday 22 July.
And Kelly, who scored the winning goal in that Euro 2022 triumph, says she can’t wait to get stuck into the tournament, as the Lionesses chase World Cup glory for the first time.
“This is what dreams are made of,” she told England’s Lionesses Down Under daily show, presented by Kyle Walker and City legend Jill Scott.
“Everyone dreams of playing at a World Cup so to represent your country there is amazing.
“We’re excited to have the fans at our games and get behind us.
“We’re really feeling the excitement now. We’re ready to go.”
The City winger also highlighted the impact that England’s fans can have on the team’s success, both at the matches and back in the United Kingdom.
Having begun their journey down under on the Sunshine Coast, the Lionesses have been putting in final preparations in Brisbane ahead of their first fixture this weekend.
And Kelly revealed the incredible support she and her team-mates have felt from both the travelling fans and the locals alike.
She said: “A lot of families are travelling over to see us in our down time too.
“When we step onto the pitch, we know we have the support of not only our family but the fans back home as well.
“So far everyone we’ve met has been amazing and supportive of our journey so far.
“It’s really important we get the support back home but also in the stadium and show our appreciation to the fans who’ve travelled so far as well as the locals.”
