form guide

City have won six of our last seven games in all competitions and head into the clash on the back of Sunday’s record-breaking 7-1 win at Brighton and Hove Albion.

West Ham have won three of their last five games, The Hammers defeated both Bristol City and Charlton 4-0 and secured progression to the Continental Cup semi-finals with a 3-0 triumph over Durham last time out, but fell to narrow losses (3-2 and 1-0) at the hands of Chelsea and Tottenham.

Team news

Gareth Taylor has confirmed that Sam Mewis, Demi Stokes and Gemma Bonner will miss Sunday’s clash through injury.

Bonner and Stokes are both recovering from training injuries, whilst Mewis picked up a knock on international duty with the USA last week.

Gareth Taylor preview

“They [West Ham] have a new manager and I don’t think any game is an easy game, this will be tough.

“They have a new coach and new ideas so we need to make sure we have the same mentality as we did against Brighton.

“We will try to dominate the game and we don’t underestimate anyone.

“The games we’ve got coming up in the next few weeks will have a big say on what will happen with the title but we’ve got a big game against West Ham where we need three points.”

Last meeting

England forward Georgia Stanway marked her 100th appearance for the Club by scoring twice in a 5-0 win over the Hammers - before later being sent off - with Nick Cushing’s side finding the target four times in a dominant opening 45 minutes with Ellen White and Lauren Hemp also scoring.

Stanway added to another fine individual display by then providing an assist as Tessa Wullaert struck a fifth goal after the break.

It was the perfect showcase for the Blues on Women’s Football Weekend with a healthy and noisy Academy Stadium crowd treated to a superb all-round display.

The only downside on the afternoon was the fact that Stanway was then dismissed on 72 minutes after picking up two yellow cards inside five minutes.

LAST TIME OUT

City bagged seven for the second week in a row, storming to a record-breaking FA Women’s Super League win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

On the day of our seven-year anniversary, Gareth Taylor‘s side ran riot to triumph 7-1, returning to winning ways in emphatic fashion and climbing the table with another goal difference-boosting blitz.

Steph Houghton starred on the south coast, netting in either half of her 150th league appearance, as she became the first player to reach the coveted feat.

On a memorable afternoon at the American Express Elite Performance Centre, Caroline Weir also scored twice to announce her return from injury, while Ellen White, Chloe Kelly and Janine Beckie also wrote their names onto the scoresheet.

Our biggest away league win, the dominant display from start to finish marked our anniversary celebrations in style and extended our impressive unbeaten league run to seven games.
