A look at some of the key numbers which tell the story of Demi Stokes’ City career to date.

The defender has signed a one-year contract extension, committing her future to the Club until the summer of 2024.

The 31-year-old has been at the centre of our success since moving to the Academy Stadium at the beginning of 2015, helping City to a WSL title as well as numerous domestic cup triumphs.

A key figure throughout her time at the Club, Stokes is sure to enjoy plenty more memorable moments at the Academy Stadium.

However, we’ve taken a look back at some of the milestones she’s managed to reach so far…

2015

The year that Demi Stokes joined the Club.

Her latest deal will mean she’s just shy of a decade of stellar service at City, with only Steph Houghton having been at the Club for a longer period among the current squad.

Stokes joined a side about to embark on only their second-ever Barclays Women’s Super League season, having relaunched as a professional outfit the previous January.

It means that she’s been at City for all but one of our trophy triumphs – that being the Continental Cup victory over Arsenal at the end of our first campaign three months before she signed.

199

The number of appearances that Demi has made for Manchester City.

Only two other players have featured more times for the Club, those being our captain Steph Houghton and former midfielder Keira Walsh.

That means Stokes’ next match for City will make her just the third member of our women’s squad to reach 200 appearances.

She has turned out on 109 occasions in the WSL, 26 times in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, 32 times in the Continental Cup and once in the Community Shield, while her 31 FA Cup appearances is the most of any City player since our 2014 relaunch.

7

The number of honours Demi Stokes has won at Manchester City.

Only Steph Houghton, Keira Walsh, Karen Bardsley and Jill Scott have been a part of more squads to have claimed silverware for the Club (eight apiece).

The defender has won every available domestic honour during her time at the Academy Stadium, with one league title, three FA Cups and three Continental Cup triumphs.

2

The defender has been included in the PFA WSL Team of the Year on two separate occasions during her time at the Club.

Stokes’ outstanding displays in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 campaigns were both recognised, with City winning the FA Cup and Continental Cup double in the latter of those two seasons.

In total, we conceded just 34 goals in 38 WSL matches across the two years in which the 31-year-old was included.

Stokes was joined by five of her City team-mates in England’s victorious European Championship squad in the summer of 2022.

Victory over Germany in the final – courtesy of a Chloe Kelly winner – secured a first major international honour for Demi’s home nation since 1966.

In total, an astonishing 12 of the Lionesses at the tournament had featured for the Club at some point in their careers, more than 50% of the squad.
