The City striker bagged a brace as the Lionesses stormed into the quarter-finals of the Women’s Euros with a record-breaking win in Group A – the biggest ever victory in the competition in both the men’s and women’s game.
Sarina Wiegman’s side raced into a 6-0 half-time lead with White and Lauren Hemp both on the scoresheet, while Beth Mead netted a hat-trick and Georgia Stanway and Alessia Russo were also on target.

With the atmosphere at Brighton and Hove Albion’s AMEX Stadium as impressive as the result, England’s all-time record female goalscorer was almost lost for words.
“It was incredible,” White smiled. “I don’t know how to describe it!
“You could see in our faces... The first half was unreal – the noise, the atmosphere and scoring six goals was incredible.
“Moving into the second half and scoring another two goals and getting a clean sheet… it was just crazy!
“It’s a big statement, 8-0, but we’re staying cool and collected. We want to keep moving forward as a team, growing as team from the first game to this one, then to the Northern Ireland game.
“We’re focused on our own task. We’re delighted to come away with an 8-0 win, a clean sheet and three points.
“I’m super proud of the whole squad and hopefully everyone watching is proud of this England team as well.”
White’s brace edged the striker closer to Wayne Rooney’s all-time goalscoring record for England with the City star now just one shy of the feat.
However, ever humble, the 33-year-old asserts she is fully focused on doing what she can to help the team, rather than being motivated by personal accolades.
“It’s just amazing to score for England,” she added. “It’s a real honour for me and I’m surrounded by phenomenally talented players.
“It [the record] is not something I think about. I’m just enjoying being part of this England team.
“It’s a dream for me – everyone knows how much I love playing for England. It’s an honour for me so if there’s any way I can help this team on or off the pitch, I will do absolutely anything I can.
“I feel super lucky and it was an incredible game. The atmosphere was just amazing.
“It’s a dream. I’m delighted to get on the scoresheet and to help the team win. It was an incredible night for us.
“It’s going to be hard to get to sleep! We can enjoy this tonight and look forward to facing Northern Ireland.”
