Ellie Roebuck has described the positive atmosphere among the England squad ahead of their World Cup clash with Denmark.

The City goalkeeper is one of six members of Gareth Taylor’s squad aiming for glory with the Lionesses this summer.

That pursuit began with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Haiti last week, and the European Champions face another sizeable challenge in Sydney when they lock horns with the Danes on Friday.

But while Roebuck insists Sarina Wiegman’s side are bracing themselves for another tough assignment in Group D, she says the team are going into the tie with a spring in their step.

HOW TO FOLLOW CITY IN ASIA

Speaking on England’s Lionesses Down Under daily show, the City stopper said: “Training’s been really fun. I’ve loved every minute so far.

“It’s such a good atmosphere, the vibes are good and it’s competitive.

“[Denmark’s] DNA is quite similar to what we’ve faced in the past, but we have to be weary they have key players. Pernille Harder’s not bad is she?

“[But] it’s about being mindful of that but also not getting too distracted from what we’re good at and making sure we impose ourselves on them.”

While her focus has been on the pitch, Roebuck also stressed the importance of downtime during an international camp in order to attack each day with a renewed mindset.

Indeed, the City stopper says she’s currently loving the routine down under.

“I’m loving it. It’s so nice, and I’ve really found a love for Australia, the beaches, the weather. It’s winter and it’s still hotter than England,” Roebuck joked.

“I think it’s important when you’re on a camp or tournament and away from home for so long, you’ve got to find a routine and things that work for you or ways to switch off.

“Hopefully we’ll be here for a lot longer.”
