City saw off Emma Hayes’ Chelsea in the final last season with a brace from Caroline Weir and a goal from Ellen White sealing our fourth Conti Cup triumph, which saw us become the second most successful side in the competition’s history.
Morgan was unable to play in the game due to a fracture in her lower leg which she sustained against Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the 2021/22 WSL season.
Despite that, the 21-year-old England international maintains that City’s victory over Chelsea at Plough Lane was one of her favourite moments in the Conti Cup.

And her desire to win the competition again is there for all to see, she said: “We have so much fun and we really sort of see it as our trophy, so we’re desperate to win it back again this year.
“The day before [the 2021/22 final] I got the all clear from my surgeon that I was able to play, [but] I was not in a position to play, but clinically my leg was no longer broken.
“So I then took that as the green light, as soon as we won I was running on to the pitch.
“I just loved it so much because our second half performance was so good. Cas [Caroline Weir] scored a couple of great goals and it was just a fun game to watch from the side lines, so I really enjoyed being around the squad that day.”
City’s fixtures have been coming thick and fast this season both in league and cup, something that Morgan enjoys despite the physical demands that come with those games.
“I think you get used to it after a while and there’s so much competitiveness in the squad, people constantly vying for minutes you sort of have to stay on top of your game,” added Morgan.
“There’s no sort of resting in between fixtures and everyone’s got to be so consistent.
“I think, what you play football for is for the matches, so it’s more enjoyable when you’ve got games coming thick and fast because all we want to do is play games.
“It can be tough physically, playing games every few days and having to constantly switch off from one game, park whatever happened and then move onto the next one.”
