The England youth international has penned a four-year deal at the Joie Stadium – keeping her at the Club until 2028.
After progressing through Royals’ youth ranks, she made her senior bow in a Continental Cup meeting with Tottenham last term after earning her maiden England Under-19s cap in a 5-0 win over Denmark.
Now, she could potentially taste the Barclays Women’s Super League and Champions League for the first time by linking up with Gareth Taylor’s side.
And the 18-year-old believes she’s at the right place to achieve her ambitions.
“[It feels] amazing. I mean a club like this, to hear they’re interested in you is just a feeling that can’t be matched.
“And just the aspirations I’ve got, coming to a club like this is just incredible.
“The last 12 months have definitely been eventful, full of highs and lows. So, I made my England debut for the Under-19s which was a really great experience.
“I’ve been on a few of the camps for the past few months. I absolutely love the experience and it’s really good to grow in that environment as well as at Club [level].
“It’s just been an incredible experience for me to grow as a person as well as a player. So I’ll always appreciate the people I’ve had there [at Reading].
“I made my debut in the Conti Cup against Tottenham, played against Arsenal.
“I mean, I’ve not had the easiest fixtures, but I’ve really appreciated having them opportunities and being able to prove myself and just level myself up playing against the best players in the world and saying that’s where I want to be in the future.”
Annets’ switch to City will see her reunite with England youth international colleague and current Blues forward Poppy Pritchard.
The latter joined the Club from Durham in January 2024 and featured regularly in our Barclays Women’s Super League matchday squads as we relentlessly battled for the title last term.
And our latest recruit revealed Pritchard has been singing Taylor’s team’s praises on international duty.
Annets added: “She [Pritchard] does not stop talking about City, but it’s a good thing. And it’s nice to come here and have like a warm welcome face.
“I mean, everyone’s been lovely, but having someone I know is really good.
“We met at England in September on first camp together, so our friendships just constantly laughing and pushing each other on the field as well. So it’s really nice.
“She just said it’s incredible. Everyone’s really nice and she just loves being in the environment like myself of people that want to push you and grow you and show you what the elite of the elite looks like and that’s what I want.”
