The Netherlands international has registered a goal and an assist across our previous two matches as we signed off at the Joie Stadium in 2024 with 10 straight wins at home.
She provided Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s opener in our strong 4-0 win over Leicester in the Barclays Women’s Super League before scoring our second in a 2-0 Champions League win over St Polten.
And the boss stated his delight for the Dutch defender as her strike against the Austrian outfit represented her maiden goal for the Club.
“I’m really pleased [for Kerstin],” he declared.
“I had to ask on the bench towards the end if it was her first goal. She had an assist at the weekend as well which is great, playing a little bit more higher now where she will get these opportunities.
“The thing I’ve always been impressed with Kerstin is that technically she’s really good. A great crosser with the ball, now we’re playing her a bit higher she we be able to do that more.
“She can finish. It’s a tap in and both goals are, but we’re really pleased to see they’re in the six yard box and I had the feeling in the first half that’s where they were.
“A lot of balls were going into the six yard box and we weren’t there. We made a point of that at half-time to say make those runs into there and they would be found.
“Aoba on both occasions made the assist which is impressive from her. Really surprised to see Kerstin in there, but really happy also.”
City’s win over St Polten means we enter our last group match, a showdown with Barcelona, knowing a win, draw or a defeat by a single goal will secure our place at Group D’s summit.
However, before the tantalising trip to Spain we travel to Everton for our important final WSL fixture of 2024.
And Taylor reiterated that his and City’s full focus is on the task of the Toffees this Sunday.
He added: “I can’t tell you yet [the approach for Barcelona], sorry.
“The Everton game has been on my mind even before this game tonight. What we wanted to do though is be in a position to go to Barcelona knowing we’re in that situation [to finish top of the group].
“That’s it. We’ve done it tonight and we look at Everton now.”
