A look at Gareth Taylor’s time at Manchester City so far, from the pitch to the dugout.

The boss has agreed to a contract extension, keeping him at the Academy Stadium until 2024.

As Taylor mentions in his interview with City Studios, his long association with the Club spans over 15 years, beginning when he moved to Maine Road as a player in 1998.

A centre-forward in his playing days, he was part of the City team which secured successive promotions back to the top flight, including our dramatic 1999 Division Two Play-Off Final victory over Gillingham.

Moving on to pastures new in 2001, Taylor would hang up his boots a decade later, soon returning to Manchester as a coach in our youth setup, beginning with our Under-16s before taking on the Under-18s managerial post in 2017.

Back-to-back Under-18 Premier League Cup successes would follow before he was appointed Women’s Head Coach in May 2020.

Since then, City have picked up silverware in the form of the Women’s FA Cup and Continental Cup.

It’s been a memorable journey so far for Taylor, and you can relive some of the key chapters in that story via the gallery below…
