Stanway leapfrogged Nikita Parris’ to become the highest scoring women’s player in the Club’s history with her second goal in an 8-0 FA Cup fourth round victory over Nottingham Forest.

The 23-year-old, who was introduced as a substitute at half-time, ensured a memorable day got even better when she scored a superb strike to complete her hat-trick in stoppage time.
Taylor was delighted for a player he feels is integral to his City team and says her achievement is a rich reward for her exemplary work ethic.
“I’m so pleased for her because she has been showing real hot form at the moment,” he told mancity.com.
“She has been great to work with, particularly with her attitude and application to try new positions and affecting the play wherever she plays.
“I am really delighted for her today. I thought her final goal was special, with the composure and the finish.
“To become the record scorer for the Club is no easy thing and I think she deserves full credit for that.
“I think it was only matter of time before she actually did it, but it will be pleasing for her and she deserves it because she has worked so hard.
“She is really key to what we’re doing.”
City had more reason for celebration as Academy players Ginny Lackey and Jemima Dahou were handed their first team debuts as second half substitutes.
The teenagers came off the bench for the final 15 minutes at the City Ground to follow in the footsteps of young goalkeeper Khiara Keating, who made her senior bow against Leicester City earlier this month.
The young duo had only completed one training session with the squad the day before the cup tie, but Taylor was impressed with how they performed in the first team environment.
“I thought they did really well and it was really difficult because they only trained one day with us, which was yesterday,” he added.
“They had to travel down separately to us because of Covid rules so it’s not been easy for them, but I am sure they have absolutely loved the day.
I had a quick chat with them and they were delighted. They deserved it. It’s a great story and this is the magic of the FA Cup, really special moments like that for young players.”
