A Lauren Hemp wonderstrike, plus a Georgia Stanway brace, secured a 3-0 triumph at the Academy Stadium in the second leg, after the FA Cup winners had battled to a 2-1 away win in Sweden seven days prior.
Reflecting on his side’s qualification and the manner of the feat, Taylor praised his side’s comprehensive display and game management.
“It was comfortable in the end,” he declared. “I’m pleased with how the girls managed the game.

“This was one of the toughest games we could have had but to go far, you have to play against really good teams.
“Göteborg are a difficult outfit to play against and really impressive in their build-up play.
“I thought we were really professional. We controlled the game and the counter-attacks where they had their slight moments.
“The first goal didn’t change the outlook too much – they still needed two away goals – but the way we managed the game was good.
“We could have played out pressing game higher and we could have scored more but there were some good individual performances as well.
“That will give the girls confidence. We can put the Champions League to bed now until February.
“We know it’s a big ask (to win the tournament). The competition will hot up.
“It’s great to be in the Round of 16 and it’s something we’re really looking forward to.
“We feel confident we can do far. Any trophy is important and we want to go as far as we can in all of them.”
Hemp opened the scoring with a moment of magic, cutting inside and rocketing an effort beyond Jennifer Falk for her first goal of the season.
Taylor expressed his pride for her impact – and that of two-goal super sub Stanway – as well as sharing an injury update on Caroline Weir (who was substituted at half-time) and Rose Lavelle.
“It’s a really big boost for us to have Lauren back,” he added. “She’s such a good outlet and she causes real problems in the opposition defence.
“We’re still having to manage her to make sure it’s not too much, too soon.
“We know Georgia has got that in her. It’s pleasing that although they were simple goals, she was in the right position – that’s the most important thing. We’ve been looking for that from her.
“Caroline was just a case of a tight hamstring. She’s had a heavy load in terms of games in the last period because she’s done so well.
“Hopefully, we’ll get her for the weekend but if not, it’s not the worst time to have this situation and we’ll have her back after Christmas.
“Rose had a slight setback. She jarred her knee quite hard against Everton.
“It’s similar to Caroline – although she’s missing a few games, we’re expecting her to be there or thereabouts in January.”
