Alex Greenwood was substituted in the first half of England's 3-2 defeat against Belgium in Leuven.

Play was stopped for more than 10 minutes after Greenwood was involved in a clash of heads with Belgian striker Jassina Blom.

Our defender was eventually stretchered off the pitch in the 32nd minute. A further update on her fitness will be provided in due course.

Lauren Hemp and Chloe Kelly both played the whole match but couldn’t lead Sarina Wiegman’s side to success in this UEFA Nations League fixture.

England found themselves a goal down in the ninth minute thanks to a brilliant Laura de Neve free-kick.

Lucy Bronze equalised with a pinpoint header in the 38th minute before Fran Kirby put the visitors ahead following a blistering run and accurate pass from Hemp.

That wasn’t the end of the first-half scoring with Tessa Wullaert set free in the fifth of 14 minutes added time before firing under Mary Earps.

A tense second half followed before an 85th minute Wullaert penalty - after a Georgia Stanway handball - earned the hosts the win.

City’s Ellie Roebuck, Khiara Keating, Esme Morgan and Jess Park all remained unused on England’s bench.

Elsewhere, Sandy MacIver made her Scotland debut in goal in their 1-0 defeat to Netherlands at Hampden Park.

Kerstin Casparij and Jill Roord both played from start to finish for Netherlands in a game won by Esmee Brugts’ 60th minute curling finish from more than 20 yards.

Those results leave Netherlands at the top of Group One on nine points.

Belgium are second on seven points and England are in third with six points from four games.

Filippa Angeldahl played the full match as Sweden drew 1-1 with Italy at the Eleda Stadion in Malmo.

Sweden went behind after Valentina Giacinti’s 57th minute opener but our midfielder set up Linda Sembrant in the 96th minute for a last gasp equaliser.

That result leaves Sweden second in Group Four, second only to world champions Spain, who have a perfect 100% record after four games.

The latest of those victories was a 7-1 victory in Switzerland this evening, with City defender Laia Aleixandri playing the full game at the heart of the defence.

Our players will now return to Manchester to train ahead of this Sunday’s Barclays Women’s Super League trip to Arsenal.

That match is a 12:30 kick-off and you can follow text and radio commentary as it happens live on mancity.com and our official app.
