Filippa Angeldahl’s Sweden were beaten by a late France goal in European Championship qualification.

Having picked up a 1-1 draw against England at Wembley earlier in the international break, it looked like the Swedes were on course to grab another point.

However, Wendie Renard’s 81st minute strike was enough to ensure the visitors came away with maximum points in Group C, maintaining their 100% start to the campaign in the process despite a late red card for Vicki Becho.

Angeldahl started for the World Cup semi-finalists, featuring for the opening 78 minutes before being replaced by Everton’s Hanna Bennison.

But the defeat means the City midfielder’s nation now sit third in Group C, with one point from their opening two matches in qualification.

Laia Aleixandri, meanwhile, was an unused substitute for Spain as they beat the Czech Republic 3-1 in Group B.

The World Champions currently sit top of the table with a 100% record, maintained thanks to goals from Maria Mendez, Jeni Hermoso and Mariona Caldentey.

Elsewhere, Poppy Pritchard grabbed a second half brace for England’s Under-19s as they rounded off their Euros qualifying group with a 4-1 win over Italy.

The Young Lionesses had already sealed their spot in this summer’s tournament following a 1-0 win over hosts Portugal on Saturday evening.

Italy drew first blood through Monica Renzotti’s strike midway through the first half, but England responded with a double from Freya Godfrey to take a slender lead in at the break.

And after the restart it was Pritchard who took centre stage, adding a third inside five minutes of the restart before rounding off the scoring just two minutes later.
