With Alan Mahon’s side sitting one place above Emma Hayes’ side, who have a game in hand, victory could prove significant in the hunt for a second league crown, and Scott asserts home advantage could be key.
“We feel confident going into this game,” she stated.
“We love playing at home – there’s nothing like stepping out at the Academy Stadium.
“The fans sing all day long and we need them more than ever for this game.
“Hopefully, they’ll be out twelfth player on the day.”
With fixtures against Chelsea always proving tightly-contested affairs, Scott acknowledges her side must be on top form to take three points from Hayes’ outfit, with both teams heading into the game in impressive form.
“Their season has gone well so far – they’ve had a few good results of late, but it’s a home fixture and we’re looking for three points,” she added.
“It’s always the toughest game of the season. They have fantastic players – a lot of them I know well, playing with them at international level.
“It’s very tough and always a tactical game – our manager tries to outdo theirs tactically and vice versa.
“We’ll have to work hard and put in a good performance in order to get three points.”
Should City emerge victorious however, Scott has also urged her teammates not to assume the title is won.
“We don’t want to get too carried away,” she warned.
“There are still a lot of games to go. I hate to be saying clichés but we do have to take one game at a time.
“It would be a very important step on this journey to win the league, but I’m sure they’ll want it as much as we do.
“It’s a very important game. We just need to stick to the task at hand.”
