On 15 November 2013, Jill Scott signed for Manchester City.

At 26, the midfielder was already a household name in the Barclays Women’s Super League, and a firmly established England international when she joined the Club ahead of our first season as a professional outfit.

But over the next nine years, she would cement herself as a true club legend, helping City go on to win every available domestic honour before hanging up her boots in 2022.

To celebrate Scott’s remarkable career and tell the story of her time at the Joie Stadium, we’ve broken down her time at the Club into the below numbers.

194

The number of appearances the midfielder made for City.

Only Steph Houghton, Keira Walsh and Demi Stokes have turned out for the Club more times since our official relaunch in 2014, and she is one of only five players to have made more than a century of WSL appearances for City.

In total, Scott turned out for Nick Cushing and Gareth Taylor’s sides 115 times in the league, 20 times in the FA Cup, on 35 occasions in the Continental Cup and 23 times in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

She is also one of only 14 players to have completed the set, also featuring in our solitary Community Shield appearance back in 2020.

2014

City’s first season since our official relaunch saw us finish fifth in the WSL and reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

We also claimed the Continental Cup, ensuring our maiden campaign ended with some silverware following a 1-0 victory over Arsenal.

Scott was an ever-present across 2014, and her exploits from the engine room ensured she finished the campaign as our Player of the Season.

8

The amount of trophies Scott won during her time at Manchester City.

Including one WSL title, three FA Cups and four Continental Cups, the midfielder was also part of two double-winning sides in 2016 and 2019.

She also found the net in our 2017 FA Cup final triumph over Birmingham City.

Only Steph Houghton and Keira Walsh have been able to match Scott’s remarkable silverware success in City colours since our rebrand in 2014.

2020

The year that Jill was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours list in recognition of her services to women’s football.

At that point, the midfielder had represented her country an astonishing 146 times over a 13-year period.

2022

Scott drew the curtain on her memorable career by helping England be crowned European Champions in the summer of 2022.

The midfielder was joined by an astonishing 11 other members of the Lionesses squad who were either current or former City team-mates as Sarina Wiegman’s side edged out Germany after extra time.

It was the best possible way for Scott to call time on her career, and one befitting what she’d achieved in the game leading up to that point.
