Manchester City midfielder and Club legend Jill Scott has announced her retirement from football.

A founding member of our first professional side, the former England international made 194 appearances for the Club having become our first signing in late 2013, with only Steph Houghton and Keira Walsh able to better that tally.

And after departing the Academy Stadium on the expiry of her contract this summer, the midfielder has decided to call time on her illustrious career.

A central figure in City’s success, Scott helped guide the Club to Continental Cup glory in our first season as a professional outfit, going on to win a further six domestic trophies during her time in Manchester.

Making 161 appearances for her home nation over a 16-year-period, her legacy on an international cannot be overstated, having also been a part of the Lionesses squad to end England’s 56-year wait for a major honour this summer at Euro 2022.

It means Scott bows out at the pinnacle of women’s football alongside fellow former City and England teammate, Ellen White, who announced her retirement earlier this week.

Everyone at Manchester City Football Club would like to congratulate Jill on an incredible career and wish her all the best in the future.
