Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw enjoyed a game to remember, netting four goals in City’s stunning 7-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Jamaican striker was on fire, as Gareth Taylor’s side produced a superb attacking performance to move into the FA Women’s Super League top three, bagging a brace in each half.

Naturally, the 25-year-old received deserved acclaim for her efforts, which increased her tally for the season to 18 in 26 games and earned the Player of the Match award, prompting winger Chloe Kelly to ask what the forward had for breakfast!

“To get four is an unbelievable feeling,” Bunny smiled. “That’s the objective, that’s what my team looks to me for: to score goals.

Chloe Kelly asked me what I had for breakfast! It was the same thing I had for breakfast all year!

“It was my day and I just have to keep going. It’s a good feeling but we keep growing as a team, keep pushing.

“We’re happy for each other, we always encourage each other. It’s all about encouragement – whether you score or you’re not having a good game, we smile.”

The win lifted City into third spot into the table and into the Champions League places with just two games to go.

Bunny admitted it would be a huge achievement to clinch European football, especially after a challenging start to the season – a feat she says the Club deserves.

“It would mean a lot for me,” she declared. “That is one of the reasons I came to City: I want to win trophies and compete at the highest level.

“We found ourselves in a difficult position at the beginning of the year and we knew it was going to take hard work and consistency.

“This year started off great and we keep building, sticking together. We knew it would come and it’s coming now, and we’re happy with that.

“You win games and the team goes into a good place, so we definitely feel confident going forward.

“To go to the Champions League next season would be a great feeling.”
