Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw says ‘it means a lot’ to her to become the Club’s all-time record scorer after she scored City’s third in our 3-1 win over United at the Etihad.

Jess Park’s brace, her first and second goals in the WSL for City, put the team in the driving seat before she teed up Shaw to score her 68th goal in blue just after the restart.

Her 18th goal in all competitions saw her leapfrog Georgia Stanway who previously held the record.

THE STATS BEHIND SHAW’S RECORD BREAKING GOALS

To achieve an phenomenal goal tally of 68 in her two-and-a-half seasons to date at City, Shaw became the Club’s new record goalscorer in just 82 games.

And Shaw is honoured to help the team pull off positive performances by scoring so many goals.

“It means a lot,” began Shaw. “The girls demand a lot of me, it starts on the training pitch. Even if I score, I know they’ll be on me!

“I just try to do the bits I can at the top end of the pitch.

“Of course, the girls look for me to score. It’s not easy but I just try to do the best that I can.”

When City fans thought Shaw’s game couldn’t be elevated any further, the addition of former City striker Shaun Goater to Gareth Taylor’s coaching staff has seen Shaw become more clinical in front of goal.

Shaw has previously spoke about how Goater has challenged her to think more about her off-the-ball movement in the box.

And getting to work with the former Bermuda international every day on the training pitch is an absolute delight for Shaw.

“It’s great,” said Shaw. “He’s great to work with, he’s funny, always makes me laugh and gives me jokes but on the flip side we work together a lot off the pitch, watching videos to see how I can get better and create angles for the midfielders.

“On the pitch we work well but also off it.”
