Lauren Hemp has been shortlisted for the Women’s PFA Player of the Year award.

Fresh from helping England with the 2022 European Championships, the skilful winger further established herself as one of the Barclays Women’s Super League’s finest assets last term.

The 22-year-old was once again a vital cog in City’s machine by scoring 10 goals and registering 11 assists in all competitions – the second highest G/A in Gareth Taylor’s squad last term.

As a result, she was selected in Sarina Wiegman’s England squad for the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where she has helped the Lionesses reach the semi-finals of the prestigious competition.

In a year full of highlights, Hemp’s standout moments came when she bagged an impressive brace against Bristol City in the Continental Cup and scoring twice and assisting Bunny Shaw in a 3-2 WSL victory over Everton.

Hemp is no stranger to the prize as she first received the YPOTY award as a 17-year-old back in 2018 following a breakthrough campaign with the Vixens.

And while former City midfielder Georgia Stanway would claim the trophy in 2019, the winger has since spectacularly gone on to claim three successive YPOTY awards in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Everyone at the Club would like to congratulate Lauren on her nomination and wish her the very best of luck when the award winner is announced on Tuesday 29 August.
