Lauren Hemp has described the past seven days as ‘one of the best weeks’ of her City career.

It comes after the Blues reached the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final with a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Chelsea only four days after Andrée Jeglertz’s side secured the 2026 Barclays Women’s Super League title.

The England international played the full 90 minutes as we came from two goals behind to beat Sonia Bompastor’s holders of the major trophy.

And after reaching Wembley’s showpiece, Hemp says she’s honoured to share moments to savour with her current City cohort.

On reaching the FA Cup final, Hemp declared: “I can’t quite believe it to be honest.

“The mentality of this group is special, we’ve had a good week and we’re champions for a reason.

“I think we’ve just got that winning mentality which kept us going today and being two-nil down isn’t fun, but that really pushed us and the momentum start to shift in our favour.

“Players came on and made a difference, we stuck at it and we really pushed through extra-time. I’m really proud to be a City player.

“It’s definitely been one of the best weeks of my City career. We knew we were always in the game and we were creating the chances, it was just about putting it away.

“I thought our reaction was really good to going two-nil down. We would have liked it to have been different from the start, but sometimes games go like that.

“Sitting there on Wednesday, there’s no other group I’d want to do this with.

“The togetherness we’ve shown throughout the season helped in games like today where we were on the back foot for a lot of it and we managed to turn it around.”

Next up for City is a trip to West Ham for what is the final assignment of our triumphant WSL campaign.

Then, to bookend the season, Jeglertz’s team will lock horns with Brighton on Sunday 31 May to compete for the FA Cup and for the chance to win the Double for the first time in the Club’s illustrious history.

And Hemp is relishing the final furlong of what’s already been a special campaign.

She added: “It’s nice to already have the job done in the league, play the game and win the game hopefully and celebrate afterwards but we’ll work hard in training this week, but we know we have something to look forward to at the end of it.

“We’ve then got Wembley to prepare for and having been to Wembley on past occasions, there’s no better place to win a trophy.

“I’m so excited. It’s all the hard work that is finally starting to pay off and in times like this we can enjoy the moment.”
