GARETH TAYLOR PREVIEW

“We have an opportunity at the weekend to progress to a quarter-final,” the City boss said at his prematch news conference.

“It’s going to be tough because Leicester are a decent proposition, the only team to take points from Chelsea and that’s testament to them and what they’re doing.

“Back at the Joie Stadium going to be great in front of our fans and we really appreciated their support [against Arsenal in the League Cup win] in London.”

LAST TIME OUT

City booked our place in the League Cup final win a dramatic late win over Arsenal.

Mary Fowler opened the scoring at Meadow Park when she found the top corner after a swift counter attack.

But the hosts responded just before the hour when Mariona Caldentey fired home a penalty, with City then missing a spot kick of our own minutes later.

The Blues twice struck the woodwork as the game edged closer to extra time, only for Fowler to sweep home with virtually the last kick of the game from the edge of the area and set up a final clash with Chelsea in March.

      PREVIOUS MEETING

The Blues last met Leicester back in December at the Joie Stadium and came away with a 4-0 WSL win thanks to a brace from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and a goal apiece for Jess Park and Mary Fowler.

It took City just two minutes to break the deadlock, as Kerstin Casparij’s cross was headed home by Shaw.

Just before the half hour Shaw doubled her tally when meeting another ball in from Leila Ouahabi, with Park adding a third after the break after smart build-up play with Jill Roord.

Fowler made sure of City’s empathic win ten minutes later when a Ouahabi cross was only half cleared by the Leicester defence, allowing the Australian to unleash an unstoppable half volley.

The result ensured City maintained a 100% record at the Joie Stadium with a ninth successive victory.
