GARETH TAYLOR PREVIEW
“We’re preparing for what we expect. There have been many times this season we have been preparing for an outcome and that’s changed.
“And the players have been bright enough to work that out and find where the spaces are going to be. It’s about working out how to build. The players have been training at good levels. It’s one we’re looking forward to.
“We had a closely contested game in the Continental Cup recently.
“Ruby [Mace] won’t be able to play against us, which is something we made sure of with our loan players. Willie is a good coach. He has got change in there and managed to do business in the transfer window.
“They managed to get their first points on the board recently and it was no surprise. They will be back on their home patch looking to do their best. It’s a big game and we want to concentrate on this. Nothing changes in our approach.”
FORM GUIDE
City currently sit fourth in the WSL table and are enjoying a 15-game unbeaten run in all competitions – stretching back to September 2022.
Across this streak, we have also progressed into the Continental Cup semi-finals and the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup.
Meanwhile, the Foxes have seen an upturn in form since Willie Kirk took the managerial reins – securing a crucial 3-0 victory over Brighton last time out in the WSL.
Although Leicester still occupy 12th position in the league table, they’re now in touching distance of the Seagulls who sit one place above them with a four-point gap.
LAST TIME OUT
City progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a spectacular 7-0 victory over Sheffield United last time out.
A sublime Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw hat-trick, Julie Blakstad double and further strikes from Chloe Kelly and Deyna Castellanos rubber-stamped a strong showing at the Academy Stadium.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Taylor’s side booked our place into the knockout stages of the Conti Cup in our previous encounter with the Foxes.
Filippa Angeldahl’s late strike earned us top spot in Group B as we recorded a 1-0 victory at the Pirelli Stadium.
The Swede ghosted in at the back post to calmly tap home Lauren Hemp’s cut back – representing her second goal of the season.
