Andrée Jeglertz preview
The Boss provided an injury update on Lauren Hemp, confirming that she would be out of action for a few weeks.
Jeglertz also confirmed that Sydney Lohmann and Rebecca Knaak are back in training, which will be a massive boost to the squad.
Finally, he addressed the importance of holding a strong home form at the Joie Stadium.
“We would like to win all games, both home and away but the home stadium has to create a feeling of this is where we can be ourselves.
“This is where we feel comfortable with the grass, stadium, spectators. It’s important to come in with shoulders down and feel we are able to express ourselves here.”
Previous meeting
City and London City Lionesses have never met, with the visitors currently enjoying their maiden campaign in the WSL.
We have won all 13 of our WSL home games against newly promoted opposition in the past by an aggregate of 52-4.
Last time out
We began our Subway Women’s League Cup journey on Wednesday night with a 3-1 victory over Everton.
Jade Rose’s first-half strike, her first for the Club, gave us the lead before Yui Hasegawa doubled our advantage shortly after the break.
Vivianne Miedema then extended our advantage with a well-met header with just shy of 15 minutes remaining before Hikaru Kitagawa scored the Toffees’ consolation in the closing stages.
Our last outing in the league saw us thrash Tottenham Hotspur 5-1.
Aoba Fujino fired City in front midway through the first 45 after a neat give and go with Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw.
Quickfire headers from Dutch duo Vivianne Miedema and Kerstin Casparij gave City some breathing space at half-time.
Grace Clinton then marked her debut with our fourth, with Olivia Holdt’s deflected effort pulling one back for Spurs before Laura Coombs completed the scoring deep into stoppage time.
