Following Andrée Jeglertz top-flight triumph in 2025/26, we asked you to pick your ultimate side alongside Nick Cushing’s champions of England from 2016.

After the numbers in each category were counted, the team has formed a 4-3-3 formation which is packed with icons of the past and our heroes of the present.

GOALKEEPER: AYAKA YAMASHITA

An ever-present for Jeglertz’s title-winners, Yamashita made 17 appearances and kept seven clean sheets across the 2025/26 top-flight campaign.

When called upon, the Japan international was often on hand to make crucial saves with stops in wins over Chelsea at the Etihad and away to London City Lionesses particular highlights.

RIGHT-BACK: KERSTIN CASPARIJ

In what was her fourth season at City, Casparij flourished in Jeglertz’s system and became a crucial member of the 2025/26 Blues.

She totalled 21 appearances in the top-flight and registered the joint-most assists across the division with seven. She also chipped in with important goals too with strikes in wins over Arsenal and Manchester United.

CENTRE-BACK: STEPH HOUGHTON

This team wouldn’t be complete without Club legend Steph Houghton who led City impeccably for 10 years since after arriving in 2014.

In the triumphant 2016 campaign, she was an integral part of the defence who conceded just four league goals across the entire campaign.

Throughout the 16 WSL assignments, Houghton helped us record 12 clean sheets across them and her 94th-minute winner against Notts County on the opening day set the tone for the rest of the sparkling campaign.

CENTRE-BACK: ALEX GREENWOOD

The second City captain to lift the WSL title, Greenwood drove the standards for Jeglertz’s team as we lifted the title by the end of 2025/26.

She made 18 appearances in the top-flight and registered a fantastic five assists – with her ability from dead ball scenarios crucial to our success.

LEFT-BACK: DEMI STOKES

Only the second player in City’s history to surpass 200 appearances for the Club, Stokes lifted the WSL title in what was her second season with the Blues.

Another member of our watertight backline who recorded seven straight clean at the start of the WSL campaign.

The former England international played in all 16 league games and scored twice with one of her strikes coming in a precious 2-0 away win over Chelsea.

MIDFIELD: YUI HASEGAWA

Jeglertz’s side’s midfield metronome – Hasegawa once again proved herself to be one of the world football’s finest operators in 2025/26.

Before and after helping Japan to Asia Cup glory in March, she played every league and not only showed her defensive quality, but also her composure and class in the final third.

In the second game of our triumphant 2025/26 campaign, she scored a vital winner in a 2-1 victory over Brighton which the first of 13 victories in a row.

MIDFIELD: JILL SCOTT

Scott was crucial to Cushing’s side’s success in 2016, playing 15 of the 16 WSL matches in a strong engine room cohort.

Across the campaign she popped up with vital goals with the final of her her three coming in the 2-0 win over Chelsea at the Joie Stadium which secured the top-flight crown.

MIDFIELD: KEIRA WALSH

Arguably her breakout season for City, Walsh showed class and composure beyond her years while gaining vital experience in our title-winning campaign.

She played eight times in the WSL in 2016 and consistently showed the player she would soon come for the Blues and England across the years to come.

FORWARD: LAUREN HEMP

Hemp achieved a career ambition by winning her first WSL title in 2025/26. And her displays across the business end of the campaign drove City to crucial wins which got Jeglertz’s side over the line.

She played 18 times in the top-flight, scoring once and registering six assists – but her tireless display in our 1-0 win over Liverpool which ultimately won us the title caught the eye when the pressure was on.

FORWARD: VIVIANNE MIEDEMA

With a tally of 10 goals and five assists in the WSL in 2025/26, Miedema was an integral part to City’s 2025/26 success with her magical displays and tactical understanding of Jeglertz’s system.

And one of her many highlights from the campaign were her two headers in our 3-0 success over Old Trafford against Manchester United as we recorded a league double over our cross-city rivals.

FORWARD: KHADIJA ‘BUNNY’ SHAW

Bunny Shaw broke new ground for the Blues in 2025/26, winning a third straight WSL Golden Boot and surpassing 100 goals for the Club with a tally of 26 goals in all competitions and 21 in the top-flight.

A swathe of individual awards followed and to extend a memorable season, she also penned a new four-year contract with City which will see her remain at the Club until 2030.
