Andrée Jeglertz Preview

Our Head Coach hinted at using the squad depth as City enter a period that will see them play three games in 11 days.

Jeglertz also stressed that Cup fixtures are not time to experiment but to give players a chance because they’ve earnt it.

He also confirmed that ‘it’s not likely’ Lauren Hemp will be available for selection after she picked up an ankle injury against Tottenham.

Opposing Manager - Brian Sorensen

After a hugely successful period managing in his native Denmark, Sorensen moved to the WSL in 2022 to take charge of Everton.

Three solid midtable finishes have followed for the Toffees since, who are an organised, aggressive outfit to play against.

They’ll have genuine hopes of pushing higher up in the WSL this season, having started their season with a 4-1 win at Anfield before slender reverses against Tottenham Hotspur and London City Lionesses.

Key Threats

Ornella Vignola’s time on Merseyside couldn’t have got off to a better start, with the midfielder becoming the first Everton player since Dixie Dean to score a hat-trick against Liverpool.

A willing runner with excellent technical ability, Vignola opened her Everton account with a stunning left-footed effort, but showed off her aerial prowess with two excellent headers to complete here treble at Anfield.

Several other summer signings have slotted well into Sorensen’s team. Former Leicester forward Yuka Momiki opened her account for Everton in their defeat to London City Lionesses, while Maz Pacheco’s energy from full-back brings further threat from out wide.

Ruby Mace - a familiar face to City fans - also joined the Toffees from Leicester this summer and offers composure and creativity from deep.

Previous meeting

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Joie Stadium in our most recent clash back in April 2025.

Kerstin Casparij opened the scoring for City inside 15 minutes, but a powerful header from Karen Holmgaard pulled the visitors level before the break.

And despite City’s best efforts, we couldn’t find the winner and were forced to settle for a point.

Last time out

City cruised to a 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in our last fixture.

Aoba Fujino opened the scoring with a vicious drive with Vivianne Miedema and Kerstin Casparij also on target before the break.

Grace Clinton then found the net on her debut to make it four, with Laura Coombs’ stoppage time effort completing the scoring after Olivia Holdt’s long-range effort had pulled one back for Spurs.
