Our local rivals’ exit from the UEFA Women’s Champions League means they have been placed into Group B alongside Gareth Taylor’s side, Leicester City, Everton and Liverpool.
It means we will now face Marc Skinner’s side at the Joie Stadium on Wednesday 24 January, with kick-off currently set for 19:00 (UK).
The fixture will be a historic occasion for the Club, with it landing on the ten-year anniversary since City’s professional relaunch.
City were set to face Liverpool on that date but will now instead travel to Prenton Park on Wednesday 8 November.
After playing each side once, each of the five group winners from the northern and southern sections of the competition will progress into the quarter-finals of the Conti Cup.
They will be joined by reigning Barclays Women’s Super League champions Chelsea and the three best-placed runners up from the group phase.
Gareth Taylor’s side reached the semi-finals of the Conti Cup in 2022/23, losing out to eventual winners Arsenal after extra time.
Our latest pursuit of glory in the competition got off to an impressive start, however, with goals from Jess Park and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw enough to earn City a 2-1 win at Everton in our first group fixture.
Overall, City have won the competition on four occasions, most recently in 2022. It was also the first piece of silverware that the Club claimed after reforming as a professional outfit in 2014.
