The Australia international bagged her maiden strike for the Club from the penalty spot, before adding to it with a tidy finish in the second half as we began our defence of the trophy.
The teenager arrived from Montpellier in the summer as Gareth Taylor looked to reshape his side for the 2022/23 campaign.
At present she’s been limited to substitute appearances in the league, but certainly made the most of her opportunity in the cup against Rovers.
“I take it as it comes. It [the penalty] was a nice challenge and I’m happy to be able to have that belief in the team and from the coach that I’m able to score those,” Fowler said.
“It was a great opportunity and I’m happy I finished it.
“It [taking a penalty] was already planned before the game [if we got one]. That’s why you practice them in training so you try to minimise the nerves but I enjoy having that bit of pressure to score.
“You’re not so far away from the goal but it seems almost too easy. For me, it’s just about calming down and remembering that the goal is so much bigger than the goalkeeper.”
During our Barclay’s Women’s Super League fixtures so far, Taylor has often selected Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw as his starting striker, a role she’s flourished in.
The 25-year-old has scored five goals in four league matches this term, including back-to-back doubles in our victories over Leicester and Spurs.
And Fowler expressed how the Jamaican’s form has served as inspiration as she looks to build on her League Cup outing.
She added: “Bunny is a great player and she’s started the season outstandingly. She’s someone I can learn a lot from. I’m happy that she’s doing well and it just makes me want to do even better.
“Having the chance to play and I was super excited to get that opportunity and I didn’t want to waste it.”
