With Manchester United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal all separated by just three points and less than two months of the campaign remaining, a blockbuster finish is surely on the horizon.
What adds even more pressure to the closing games of the season is that just three Champions League qualification spots are up for grabs.
In the time of writing, City are second in the table, level on points with league leaders Manchester United and three above fourth-placed Arsenal, finding themselves in a positive position heading into the final six games.
But what do Gareth Taylor’s side need to claim the top spot? When do we face our title rivals and how does our form compare to theirs?

As it stands
Marc Skinner’s Manchester United sit top of the table with six games remaining and 38 points already in the bag. We sit level on points with our local rivals, with 18 points left up for grabs.
Chelsea follow close behind in third with 37 points. We overtook Emma Hayes’ side after our 2-0 win last weekend. They do, however, have seven games left to play and a potential 21 points available to them.
Jonas Eidevall’s Arsenal are fourth, also with seven matches remaining. Their game in hand over City and Manchester United will be crucial as they find themselves three points behind the top two.
goal difference
With the top four huddled together at the top of the table, goal difference will be just as important as points to Taylor’s team.
Manchester United are the best off with a goal difference of 33, followed by Arsenal with 29, Chelsea with 25 and City with 20.
With two matches yet to be played against two of the top four, goals – and points – will be crucial to City in our fight for the title.
Form Guide
City have the best form in the league with an impressive 14-game unbeaten run. On a five game win streak, we will be looking to continue the fine form against Arsenal this weekend.
Despite the league defeat to City last weekend, Chelsea have the midweek Champions League win over champions Olympique Lyonnais to help boost spirits ahead of their league game against Aston Villa this Sunday.
Arsenal have won their last three league games so this weekend’s match-up with City will be crucial for both teams as they look to deny the other from continuing their momentum.
Manchester United picked up their second loss of the season earlier this month after a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea. A 4-0 win over West Ham United last weekend put them back at the top of the table and will be hard to shift having scored 42 goals this campaign.

Key meetings
Arsenal could have the biggest impact on the race for the WSL title as they still need to play all three other title contenders for a second time this season.
Their game-in-hand against Brighton & Hove Albion is scheduled for Wednesday 10 May at 19:30 (UK). They also have Champions League semi-final legs to play against Wolfsburg either side of their WSL fixture against Everton.
City still need to travel to Arsenal and Manchester United but our primary focus is on the league.
Chelsea host Arsenal in their penultimate game of the season and take on Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final matches just before.
Chelsea’s rescheduled league match against Liverpool will take place on Wednesday 3 May at 19:45 (UK). An additional FA Cup semi-final clash against Aston Villa gives them the busiest calendar of the four teams.
Manchester United will also welcome Arsenal to Leigh Sports Village next month with the added fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup semi-finals.
