Gareth Taylor‘s side welcome Arsenal to the Academy Stadium on Sunday 11 September in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
Two of the WSL’s pre-season favourites will lock horns in front of a sellout crowd, and Mace is confident that City have what it takes to kickstart our domestic campaign with a win.
“Hopefully we’re can win. I feel like the team’s ready,” she explained.
“We have a new team this season, new goals and new challenges that are set in place.
“I’ve got really good vibes about this game.”
Still just 19, Mace enjoyed a successful debut campaign at City having joined the Club from Sunday’s opponents last summer.
She made 15 appearances across her maiden campaign, learning from the likes of fellow centre-halves Steph Houghton, Alex Greenwood and Alanna Kennedy.
With Spain international Laia Aleixandri also signing for City this summer, there is stiff competition at the heart of defence in Gareth Taylor‘s side.
However, Mace insists that the challenge that presents will continue to bring the best out of her in the future.
“That’s what I came [to Manchester City] for, to be challenged and to have it is good.
“You don’t want to easily sit into a team, I would rather have competition and learn from what they’re doing on the pitch, put it into my game and then I might get my chance.
“Learning is the most important thing for me right now.
“[But] Everyone’s unbelievable and is getting on so well. It’s like our little family has been reunited again.”
