The Swede will take charge of recruitment across the women’s and girls’ pathway at the Joie Stadium, as well as first team coach and player development.
Reporting to Managing Director Charlotte O’Neill, Sjogran will oversee and support the work of Head Coach Gareth Taylor and the first team technical and recruitment staff, officially beginning her new position on Sunday 1 December.
A stalwart of the women’s game with 214 international caps to her name, the ex-midfielder moves to the Joie Stadium from Damallsvenskan champions FC Rosengard.
Having initially joined the Club as a player in 2001, Sjogran would go on to become Sporting Director there in 2015, spending almost a decade in the post before starting a new challenge at City.
Helping Sweden finish as European Championship and World Cup silver medallists in 2001 and 2003 respectively, the 47-year-old also claimed nine major honours during her club career.
During her tenure as Sporting Director, she also helped Rosengard to a further three top flight titles, with the Malmo-based side also currently on course for a fourth having won 23 of their 24 matches so far this season.
But now Sjogran’s wealth of experience will benefit City, as she looks to make her mark in an exciting chapter for the Club.
Managing Director Charlotte O’Neill said of Sjogran’s appointment: “We’re delighted to have Therese join as our new Women’s Director of Football.
“She is an undisputed icon of the game and has made a real impact on and off the pitch in both a playing and directorial capacity over the past two decades.
“We have a fantastic team working behind the scenes to help the Club compete for the top honours, and Therese is an excellent addition to that cohort.”
