Moving to England and the Barclays FA Women’s Super League for the second time in her career, the 30-year-old makes the switch to the Academy Stadium from Barcelona, having captained the Catalan club to the league, cup and Champions League treble in 2020/21.
One of the most highly decorated figures in the game, Losada has put pen to paper on a contract that will see her remain at the Academy Stadium until the summer of 2023, and she will wear the No.17 shirt for the coming campaign.
Speaking about her move, Losada said: “I’m so excited for next season and to have been able to join one of the best clubs in the world.
“As soon as I had the offer from Manchester City, I didn’t have any doubts about it - I knew that it was time to leave Barcelona and close that chapter of my career after one of the best years of my life.

“I’ve always said that I missed the English league – I feel like it brings out the best in me as a player. I am so excited to return to it now and be a part of this fantastic football club.”
Born in Terrassa, Catalonia as Maria Victoria Losada Gomez, the midfielder joined Barcelona’s youth set-up as a teenager and has since enjoyed a trophy-laden career with the club.
She has gone to win six league titles, seven Copa de la Reina trophies, eight Copa Catalunyas plus a Supercopa Feminina and Champions League apiece.
Losada also enjoyed brief stints at Espanyol (2007-2008), Western New York Flash (2014) and Arsenal (2015-2016), winning an FA Cup and League Cup double with the latter.
Whilst with the Gunners she was also named in the PFA’s WSL Team of the Year in 2015/16 as well as scooping the Supporters’ Player of the Season accolade.
Initially named as Barcelona’s captain in 2013, Losada assumed the position on her return from London and held the honour until her recent departure.

On the international stage, Losada has won 64 caps for Spain, scoring 13 goals since making her debut against England in a 2-2 draw back in June 2010, while she has also represented Catalonia on a handful of occasions.

“Her winning mentality and desire to be at the top of her game matches our own ethos here at City, and the fact that she has already previously made her mark in the FAWSL speaks volumes about her adaptability.
“Vicky’s experience in high-pressure situations will also be very important to the team as a whole as we aim to lift more trophies in the near future, and we’re very much looking forward to working with her over the next few years.”
