Previous World Cup performances

Making her England debut against Italy in March 2014, Greenwood has represented her country at each of the past two World Cups.

She was selected as the youngest member of the Lionesses squad at the first of those tournaments in 2015, getting the nod at just 21 years old as England reached the semi-finals.

Having made three appearances at that first World Cup in Canada, Greenwood would once again play an important role four years later.

In 2019, she travelled to France with the Lionesses squad, grabbing a goal in their 3-0 Round of 16 win over Cameroon en route to another semi-final finish.

Having been a key figure in England’s Euro 2022 triumph last summer, the defender is sure to have an important part to play in their World Cup prospects this time around.

Player profile

Greenwood has become an exemplary figurehead for City in recent years, providing experience and composure in our backline throughout her 98 appearances for the Club.

The defender, who can also be deployed in the full-back role when called upon, leads by example with her style and composure on the ball.

Her dead-ball ability is also second-to-none. She is called upon regularly for corners and free-kicks because of her reliability to put the ball into dangerous areas.

The England international can play penetrating long passes from within City’s half and through the opposition’s defenders, opening up play and creating high-scoring opportunities for her team-mates.

Conversely, Greenwood can also drive forward with the ball from deep, flaunting her dribbling finesse and forcing an opposing player to attempt to close the ball down and in turn create more space for her compatriots.
