Bio

Attacking intent

Exciting attacking midfielder Claudio Echeverri joined up with Pep’s squad in February 2025 after signing for the Club in January 2024.

The 19-year-old arrives in Manchester off the back of a spectacular Under-20 South American Championship campaign, where he captained his nation to a runners-up finish.

His six goals in nine appearances made him the second highest scorer at the tournament, with braces against Brazil and Uruguay the standout contributions.

It was the latest landmark in a glittering youth international career, after captaining Argentina at the 2023 U17 World Cup and scoring five goals, including a hat-trick against Brazil.

Despite his tender years, Echeverri represented River Plate’s senior side 48 times, scoring four goals and providing eight assists.

Former City defender Martin Demichelis, who was manager at El Monumental until July 2024, gave him his debut in June 2023.

Since then, he has played 10 times in the Copa Libertadores – South America’s premier continental competition and 24 games in Argentina’s top-flight.

He eventually arrived in Manchester midway through 2024/25 and earned a debut as a second-half substitute as we sought an equaliser in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

A first goal followed at the FIFA Club World Cup with a spectacular strike against Al Ain before injury ended his tournament early.

He will now spend the 2025/26 campaign on loan at German club Bayer Leverkusen.
