ALL-ACTION MIDfiELDER...
Matheus Nunes was Manchester City’s fourth signing of summer 2023, arriving on a five-year deal which keeps him at the Club until 2028.
The Portugal international has joined Pep Guardiola‘s side following his one-year tenure at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Deployed in midfield, Nunes has been regarded by Guardiola to be “one of the best players in the world”.
Nunes started his professional career in 2018 when he signed for Primeira Liga side Estoril.
And after impressing against Sporting in a Taca da Liga fixture, Nunes secured a move to the club in January 2019.
He would go on to make 101 appearances for Sporting, scoring eight goals and assisting nine in the process.
His energy in midfield caught Premier League attention, with Wolves securing his signature in 2022 for a club record fee.
He’s continued to improve his style of play since moving to England, becoming a regular name in Wolves’ starting XI.
He was awarded the Premier League Goal of the Month for April 2023 after his stunning strike against Chelsea.
On the international stage, Nunes made his debut in 2021 for Portugal and has since gone on to represent his country at the 2022 World Cup where he made two appearances.
Nunes collected a winner’s medal as part of the City squad who claimed the FIFA Club World Cup in December 2023 with a 4-0 win over Fluminense.
