Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has paid a fulsome tribute to David Silva’s extraordinary Etihad career.

After 10 magical years at City, Silva is moving on and in an exclusive interview with CityTV editor-in-chief Chris Bailey reflecting on David’s decade here, the Chairman described how Silva had cemented his place in the history of the Club.

“David Silva has put his stamp on the team, on the history of this Club and on the Premier League,” the Chairman asserted.

“The Premier League will never be the same after David Silva. He has truly been a transformational player and has added a lot to English football.”

The Chairman also revealed plans for a tribute statue to Silva to be installed outside the Etihad, while a training pitch with bespoke mosaic will also be dedicated to the Spanish midfielder at the City Football Academy.

And he also highlighted Silva’s mental and physical courage as other key components of his enormous contribution over the past 10 years.

“What people sometimes underestimate is David’s physicality. His mental and physical toughness is something that surprised everyone,” the Chairman added.

“How competitive, aggressive, and tough he is – this boy is a tough player and he has shown it over the years.

“He has earned himself a place as part of the City family for ever.”
