Pep Guardiola’s Premier League target until the end of the season is very simple – win every game!

City face recent title rivals Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, aiming to close the gap on current leaders Arsenal.

And the boss wants to continue the winning streak that began before the international break and carry it on until the end of the season.

Asked how many matches City will need to win to secure a third successive Premier League title, Guardiola said: “All of them. Simple as that.

“If we don’t win all of them, then we will not be champions. At the same time, we’re just trying to win the next one.

“If you see the consistency of Arsenal then we have to win all the games but maybe [something] will happen. With football you never know.”

THE BIG CITY WEEKENDER

The boss says he has a similar feeling to recent campaigns when we faced huge tussles with Liverpool that ran until the final game of the season.

And Guardiola expects that the game on Saturday at 12:30 (UK) will be another encounter that will be decided by small margins.

“The feeling I have right now is quite similar to that I had in previous battles with Liverpool when we were able to win 17 or 18 games in a row to be champions, I have the same feeling,” he said.

“We know each other quite well, they know everything we are going to do and we know what they are going to do.

“We won games, we lost games. It was a big battle not just between us to be champions. Doing the same we won by one point twice, and at the same time we could lose the league for one point.

“The margins have always been so close and so narrow and I think tomorrow will not be an exception.”

And Guardiola says he has a lot of respect for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after their recent duels.

“I have an incredible respect,” he said. “Of course he’s a rival like many managers, and I have incredible respect for his career and for what he does for football.”
