Ellen White says she celebrated becoming England's all-time record goalscorer by... decorating the Christmas tree!

The City and England striker made history on Tuesday, lifting herself top of her country’s goalscoring charts with a stunning hat-trick against Latvia, etching her name into the history books.

However, despite the magnitude of her achievement, the ever humble White admitted the festivities were muted, as she shied away from the spotlight - instead opting to decorate the Christmas tree at home the following day!

“It was a pretty wild one, I have to say!” she joked. “I spent it at home.

“My husband ordered the Christmas tree so that was out - we put the lights and decorations on.

“I went for a coffee with my husband but generally, we were at home. I had quite a few messages from people, which was really nice.

“That pretty much sums me up! At home, chilled, putting up the Christmas decorations... It was really nice.”

Reflecting on her accomplishment, White added she was filled with pride - not only for herself but for her teammates, as the Lionesses romped to a 20-0 win!
