Six Young Leaders involved with Manchester City’s global charity initiative, Cityzens Giving, flew out to Abu Dhabi last week for a four-day football-based leadership experience with Etihad Airways.

The Young Leaders – from Manchester, Mexico City and Kuala Lumpur – were selected to take part for their dedication and skill as community football leaders.

During their time in Abu Dhabi, the Young Leaders – who all use the power of football to positively impact young people in their communities – received additional training in community football and leadership and delivered football sessions to local youth at City Football Schools.

They also experienced much of what Abu Dhabi has to offer as a leading cultural destination.

A highlight of the trip was their visit to Etihad Airways HQ in Abu Dhabi for an interactive workshop on leadership inspired by the airline’s ‘Grow with Etihad – Leadership Excellence Programme’, as well as the chance to experience cabin crew training in one of the airline’s flight simulators.

Mindy, one of the inspiring Young Leaders from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia said: “This was my first time flying outside of Malaysia – there were so many “wow” moments!

“The experience was full of laughter, inspiration, and positivity. I never thought that I would have the opportunity to travel and learn with other amazing people. Thank you Cityzens Giving and Etihad for making it possible.”
