There were victories for each of Manchester City’s four teams this weekend as we entered the busy festive period.

Pep Guardiola’s, Andrée Jeglertz’s and Ben Wilkinson’s teams all triumphed in crucial league matches, meanwhile our Under-18s secured passage in the FA Youth Cup.

Here’s how each match unfolded…

CITY 3-0 SUNDERLAND | PREMIER LEAGUE

City closed the gap on first-place Arsenal to two points with a strong 3-0 win over high-flying Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium.

Ruben Dias opened the scoring on 31 minutes with a spectacular hit from 25-yards before Josko Gvardiol headed home our second moments later.

Foden’s fifth goal in a week made the points safe just after the hour mark, nodding in a magnificent Rayan Cherki rabona cross.

LEICESTER 0-3 CITY | BARCLAYS WOMEN’S SUPER LEAGUE

Jeglertz’s side left it late at Leicester to secure our ninth straight WSL win as Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s brace before Kerolin’s strike earned a 3-0 win.

City were made to wait until the 74th minute for the breakthrough when Bunny latched onto a Foxes mistake inside the box to fire home.

She then powered a header into the net from a corner late on ahead of substitute Kerolin marking her return from injury with a goal which added the gloss to the scoreline.

It means City are at the division’s summit on 27 points which represents our highest-ever tally after 10 games.

SUNDERLAND 1-2 EDS | PREMIER LEAGUE 2

There was another late win across the weekend as Justin Oboavwoduo scored an 82nd-minute winner in our Elite Development Squad’s 2-1 win away at Sunderland in the Premier League 2.

Emilio Lawrence had given Wilkinson’s team the lead on the hour mark, but the hosts’ Harrison Jones equalised five minutes later.

That set up a grand stand finish at Eppleton Collery and it was the Blues who found the decisive goal when Oboavwoduo superbly guided an effort into the net with seven minutes remaining.

CITY U18 3-1 FULHAM | FA YOUTH CUP

City dramatically secured passage into the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-1 comeback victory over Fulham.

Archie Taylor had given the visitors the lead at the Joie Stadium in the first half – a lead they held with just over 10 minutes remaining in the tie.

That was until substitute Christian Dunbar-McDonald levelled for City on 80 minutes.

And two late goals in three minutes from Ryan McAidoo and Teddie Lamb completed a euphoric comeback for our youngsters which set up a Round Four meeting with Mansfield or Arsenal.
