Kaden Braithwaite got us off the mark on 11 minutes, converting a well worked corner routine by Ben Wilkinson’s side.
Just before the break, Sverre Nypan doubled our lead with a clinical finish to see him bag his first PL2 goal.
Eight minutes into the second half, Nypan had his second of the evening, with Ryan McAidoo quickly following in his footsteps to make it four before the hour mark.
Our young boys in blue continued to flaunt our prowess in front of goal, with Matty Warhurst bagging a brace to top off a ruthless display from City as we move to eighth in the PL2 standings.
WHAT HAPPENED
Looking to emulate the Under-18s’ result against Wolves earlier in the week, which saw Oliver Reiss’ side win 7-0, City’s EDS also found an early lead.
Ryan McAidoo whipped in a dangerous corner from the right, Reigan Heskey headed the ball back across the face of the Wolves goal and ready to pounce was holding midfielder Braithwaite for his first-ever PL2 goal.
The rest of the first half flew by with City enjoying more of the ball but not able to carve out any concrete chances with Wolves holding a firm line.
But with our penultimate attack of the opening 45 minutes, Nypan fired his 20-yard effort into the bottom left corner after the Norwegian did well to find a pocket of space on the edge of the Wolves box.
City looked to continue where we left off, with Matty Wahurst rattling the crossbar inside before the 50-minute mark.
But it didn’t take long for us to convert our next big chance.
Floyd Samba regained possession from a Wolves goal kick and teed up Nypan who buried his first-time finish into the bottom left from the centre of the opposition’s box.
McAidoo quickly made it four just three minutes later. brilliant hold-up play down the left by Warhurst allowed him to give his team-mates time to break into the Wolves box.
And after a quick glance to his right, where he spotted McAidoo sprinting in at the back post, Warhurst played the ball perfectly to his team-mate to allow the former to tap home.
Warhurst looked determined to add his name to the scoresheet and he did just that, sliding home a dangerous cross from Christian McFarlane from the left.
Instant impact from substitute Ashton Muir saw him tee up Warhurst as City continued to dominate in a thrilling second half.
The City number nine had the chance to complete a 17-minute hat-trick from the penalty spot, but his strike rattled off the crossbar.
To top off a fantastic home display, we saw the return of Matty Henderson-Hall after 274 days out from action and City kept a second successive clean sheet as we move up the PL2 standings again with six games left to play in the league phase.
