Left back Doyle was an impressive figure, playing the full 90 minutes in Slovakia.
Delap meanwhile made a solid impact as a second half substitute as goals from Carney Chukwuemeka and Alfie Devine in either half helped England record the perfect opening to their campaign.
It was a fine display all round from Ian Foster’s youngsters with England desperately unlucky not to open the scoring on the half hour when Aaron Ramsey hit the post from a low shot in the box.

But two minutes from half-time England did make a deserved breakthrough through Villa youngster Chukwuemeka.
Doyle began the move with searching pass to Chukwuemeka. In turn he fed Dane Scarlett who had raced into the left wing overlap and Chukwuemeka latched onto his neat left footed cross before turning and finish from six yards out.
England should have doubled their advantage a minute after the restart when Scarlett latched onto a misplaced back pass and struck the foot of the post.
From the rebound, Ramsey’s shot was then cleared off the line by Austrian skipper Ervin Omic.
However, a deserved second goal did arrive on 63 minutes with Alfie Devine firing home a fine 15 yard shot after some superb trickery in the box from Chukwuemeka.
Josef Demir almost immediately narrowed the deficit, the Austrian playmaker’s shot hitting the post.

Delap was brought on with 18 minutes to go and made life difficult for the Austrian backline with England in complete control as they sealed the victory.
Foster’s side will now be looking to build on that fine start in their second group game on Wednesday when they tackle Serbia, kick-off 7pm (UK).
