Justin Oboavwoduo’s goal a minute before half time ultimately proved the difference in the East Midlands.
And following on from 2-0 win over Blackburn in last month’s opening Group E Cup clash it maintained our fine start to the campaign.
What happened
City sought to take the game to hosts from the off displaying a positive, attacking approach.
Nico O’Reilly had a big early chance for City but couldn’t find the target.
However, our pressure was finally rewarded just before the half time whistle when we made the breakthrough.
Justin Oboavwoduo applied the finishing touch to a fine City move to send Ben Wilkinson’s side in holding a precious lead at the break.
Wilkinson’s youngsters maintained our dominance and control in the second half, carving out a number of excellent chances.
However, we were unable to add to that solitary first half strike.
But with our defence holding firm, that Oboavwoduo effort ultimately made the difference.

George Murray-Jones was in goal with Michael Okeke, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, Max Alleyne and Seb Naylor in defence.
Charlie Gray, Joel Ndala and Nico O’Reilly were in the engine room with Justin Oboavwoduo, Matty Whittingham and Farid Alpha-Ruprecht our attacking trio.
What it means
City are sitting pretty in Group E having accumulated six points from two games. Norwich also have six points and top the table by virtue of a slightly better goal difference.
Leicester and Blackburn are both without a point with every side having played two games so far,

Ben Wilkinson’s youngsters return to Under-18 Premier League North action next weekend when we play host to Leeds United Under-18s at the CFA.
